She grew up in Sayre, and graduated from Sayre Area Joint High School in 1965. After completing her degree in education science at Pennsylvania State University in 1969, she went on to complete a in remedial science at Elmira College in New York State. Throughout her 30 years as a talented educator, Fran touched the lives of many students. Although she taught and volunteered at Lincoln Street Elementary in Waverly, N.Y., and Dauphin County Intermediate Unit in Pennsylvania, Fran spent the majority of her teaching career in Arlington, working with students at Miller, Wood, Cory, Mary Moore, Starret and Johns elementary schools and Boles, Young and Carter junior high schools. She was a member of Church of the Epiphany in Sayre, and St.

Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington. For all those who had the privilege of meeting Fran, you might remember her for her wit, humor and radiant personality. Maybe you knew her for her ability to teach and educate our children, friends and neighbors. Whether you were a member of her bridge group, church or school, or a friend to one of her sons, you were loved no differently than her own family. Most of all, we know her best as our mom, a hardworking and educated single parent of three mischievous boys.

This was a woman who would work 70-plus-hour weeks at a local grocery store, including the third shift, just to keep the lights on. We will miss her cooking and laugher, but mostly her friendship. You are so loved and we are so proud of you. Have fun up there, Mom. Love, all of us.
